In 1988 a Danish-American couple set out in a sailboat to find a place to start a family, plant a vineyard, and make their own wine, and thus began the story of Cortes de Cima, now one of Portugal's leading wineries. They planted Syrah although it was not allowed under DOC rules, releasing their first Syrah varietal surreptitiously named 'Incógnito'. Their fame was sealed when 'Incógnito' won recognition and gold medals from international critics and competitions.
Winestyle: Powerful concentrated fruit from well-ripened Portuguese grapes is backed by fine integrated oak and balanced by ripe tannins.
Brands: Courela, Chaminé, Cortes de Cima, Homenagem to Hans Christian Andersen, Incógnito.
